Poseyville Christian Church

Known as "The Welcoming Church", the congregation has been inviting people to come and know Jesus Christ, the Son of God, as their personal Savior since 1891.
That is the purpose and mission of the church's membership gathering for Christian education, worship, fellowship and service.
Each Sunday
Morning Fellowship: 9:15am
Christian education for all ages: 9:30am
Worship: 10:30am

We are also known as "A People of the Table," as we invite all persons to observe The Lord's Supper (Communion) during each worship service, remembering, celebrating, God's gracious love poured out for all through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus, the Christ, at Calvary, Whom He raised from the grave so that we may also have eternal life.

  Come, join us Sunday!

About The Poseyville Christian Church...
Organized in 1891 with members of the rural Old Union Christian Church who wanted to present a witness inside the town limits of Poseyville, the congregation presently worships in its second facility, built in 1913 at the corner of Cale and Main Streets.  It is a congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) which began in the late 1790's in the western frontier of what eventually became the states of Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio as a movement to unite the faction of the church.  Preachers of the Baptist, Methodist and Presbyterian manifestation of the church united formally in the early 1800s in Lexington, KY, with the following beliefs:

One Essential Faith:
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is our Lord and Savior.  We have no other creed
or test of membership.

Open Communion:
The Lord's Supper is celebrated weekly for all who will receive it.

Baptism:
Believers are immersed following their profession of faith.
It is the sacrament of new life in Christ.

Church Membership:
Believers unite with our congregation by either publicly professing Jesus Christ as Lord or by the transfer of their church membership from another congregation.

The Ministry of All Believers:
Everyone who follows Jesus has his or her ministry opportunity and leadership roles in the church are open to members regardless of gender or age.

Congregational Governance:
Each church is self-governing but joined with others in common ministries in the state, nation and world.  The church annually elects from the membership; Elders, Deacons and Trustees to direct the congregation's business.  Ministers are called to
serve by the congregation.

Christian Unity:
We affirm our brothers and sisters in the Christian faith though they may differ in practice and we seek opportunities with them to witness and serve together.

The Poseyville Christian Church also affirms the sanctity of the marriage of a man and a woman, the value of family and the dignity of life for every individual.
